cheesetastic
So apparently a lot of salespeople at work like the same Sirius stations, because there have been a lot of repeats lately. If I hear Van Halen’s “Panama” one more time, I might throw myself out a window. So to avoid what could be a nasty clean-up job, I just listen to Pandora instead.
For those who don’t know, Pandora is a free internet radio service that creates stations for you based on the songs you like. You basically get to make your own radio stations. It’s pretty much the best invention ever. But it isn’t perfect. It has its moments where it starts acting like a drunk DJ.
For instance, the other day I was craving some Abba. Yeah, you heard me. Don’t act like you aren’t your own little Dancing Queen every time they come on. It’s awesomely cheesy. Plus it keeps me awake when the afternoon coma hits about 3:00.
So I typed in Abba and Pandora was right on target…
Pandora: How about some “Mamma Mia”?
Me: Right on! Thanks!
Pandora: Great! Then you’ll love this…
Me: Journey? Are you taking a shot at me? You’re totally making fun of me aren’t you?
Pandora: No! Think about it…upbeat, cheesy ballad rock.
Me: Okay, okay. But I’m totally going to bust out singing “Just a small town girl/Living in a lonely world!” and it’ll be all your fault.
Pandora: Well then here - have some Bee Gees.
Me: I hate how right you are. Now I’m going to have to name this station “Cheesetastic”.
Pandora: You know what you need? The Beatles.
Me: Under “Cheesetastic”? They might take issue with that.
Pandora: What? They’ve got their own musical just like Abba.
Me: That’s a stretch.
Pandora: Okay fine. Here’s the Cranberries.
Me: ???
Pandora: The Police?
Me: Dude, come on.
Pandora: The Go-Gos?
Me: Okay, I’ll give you that one. OR you could just play more Abba. How about “S.O.S”?
Pandora: Sorry. No songs on demand. Licensing issues, you know.
Me: *sigh*
