Pleskoed

Since we moved to Dallas – and we’re still in the “in limbo” apartment – we’ve been finding ways to spend time away from said apartment and maintain our sanity. So on a particularly bored evening, we went to Target just to wander around. While browsing the clearance racks, we kept coming across really strange objects: a pillow that looked like a Chinese dragon on crack, a monkey bank, a statue of a foot, etc. Then an idea struck us. When we visit our friends, wouldn’t it be fun to hide weird objects in their houses for them to find later? We could just imagine the conversations.

Honey? Did you put this here?
No. Hasn’t that always been here?
No! I would never buy something like that. Did we get it as a wedding present?
I don’t know. Maybe.
Probably from your side of the family.

So we searched and searched for the perfect object until at last we found him…

He was on clearance for $4.00, so it was a no-brainer. As it turns out, not long after we purchased Mr. Gnome, we were asked to housesit for some friends. Ah…perfect. The very first night we were there, much discussion went into the location of Mr. Gnome. It had to be somewhere where he’d kind of blend in. What about this shelf with the other knick-knacks? He won’t fit. What about here? Too obvious. Here? Well they have to find it at SOME point. Ultimately, the decision was left up to me because hubby was going to Houston the last day we were house-sitting. So I found a good spot in the office and put a note on the bottom of Mr. Gnome that read “You’ve been Pleskoed.” Can you find him?

Apparently, I made it too easy for my very observant friend and I got this email the next morning: I found the little present you two left us ☺ What do we do now that we have been Pleskoed? I can’t wait to hear what our mission will be!

And so I decided to spread the joy. I told her to hide it in our other friends’ house hoping she’d have better luck than I did. When they picked us up from the airport on Saturday, they had just come from said friends’ house and were happy to report that Mr. Gnome was in position, and a photo was taken for evidence.

As of now, we believe our friends are still unsuspecting. That is, until one of them reads this post. That’s right, LD, you’ve been Pleskoed ☺

LD - Your mission, should you so choose, is to plant Mr. Gnome at the home of Sam and Susan Moser. Take a picture and see how long it takes them to find Mr. Gnome. Good luck and God speed. This message will self destruct in 10 seconds….

LOL!!!!!!!!! That is HYSTERICAL! No, I have not noticed Mr. Gnome ywt at the house, but I was admiring the awesome red room, pretty hardwoods (they look brand new), and wait….picture of ME and JACOB?? Sweet. I will go rescue Mr. Gnome today…..but who knows when and IF you will get him back…..heee heeee (evil laugh).

    Love, LD :)

PS — I finally changed my comment name, too….I know y’all were wondering when I would do it…

I love it! And am totally going to steal this idea. I will have to change the name though as my family and friends will have no idea was Pleskoed means.

Can I move in with you?

Becky - Go for it! I think “Mochafaced” has a nice ring to it :)

Ali - Totally. Come on down :)

We have a red velvet Jesus that makes the rounds in our family. The fact that my minister-father purchased said Jesus makes it all the more fun.

Another girlfriend and I have a ‘teddy bear in lederhosen’ trade-off that occurs occasionally. He has shown up sitting on our toilet, or beautifully packaged in a gift bag, or just lounging in the dirty clothes.

    Fun, fun, fun.
